2008
In January of 2008 I reported to Fajardo, Puerto Rico and the El Conquistador Resort. A room renovation and additions of a new ballroom/meeting rooms complex and water-front water recreation park were underway. My assignment was to relieve the current project manager, assume control of the work and make sure the projects were completed in a timely fashion. In addition I was to make an assessment of all costs to complete the project and reconcile costs to date and projected costs to complete against the project budget. I managed all invoices and pay applications and managed payables against available cash flow through completion. As the project progressed we identified discrepancies in available furnishings versus required furnishings, located local sources for manufacturing new casegoods, sourced and purchased replacement goods that could not be found locally and arranged for warehousing and storage of attic stock off-site. We also undertook a substantial amount of remedial work that was outside the scope of the original project or had not been completed as it should have been originally.
