Owner – Principal, KLI Companies
Client: LXR Luxury Resorts (Blackstone Group, LP)
In mid 2008 while still working on the El Conquistador project in Puerto Rico I was asked to also take over the El San Juan Hotel and Condado Plaza Hotel renovations for the same group that owned El Conquistador. Both of the renovations were more complete than not but had significant issues with reconciling costs to the budget, managing outstanding claims that required settlement, and a significant amount of incomplete or remedial/corrective work that needed to be undertaken. The hotels were also being prepared for transition to the Hilton flag and management. All activities were successfully concluded and the properties converted from LXR Luxury Resorts to Hilton Waldorf-Astoria or Conrad brands.
